Our Global Partners

We develop partnerships with local in country leaders in various countries around the world who we believe, are more effective in ministry within their own language and culture and have a more powerful impact in their communities.

ROMANIA – The Living Hope Center in Targu Jiu, Romania

Our partnership began in 1998 “accidentally” as Adrian Dreana was hired as our translator for a team we took from PLCC to put on a VBS program for 3 Gypsy villages. Adrian was still a student at the Emmanuel Bible College in Oradea, Romania, and soon to graduate and marry Lavinia Balota. They felt called by God to move to the south of Romania to begin a ministry in the most economically depressed area of all the country. These people had depended on the coal mines for their livelihood, only to find the mines all closed after the revolution.

We have helped them establish a holistic ministry from their Foundation, The Living Hope Center in Targu Jiu, that:

  • reaches out to children (tutoring after school)
  • empowers women (through a maternity clothes sewing project)
  • youth (through project and programs)
  • building up families
  • raising up lay leadership.
Their intention in all these ministries is to use these social services as a BRIDGE to relationships that leads to opportunities to share the Gospel.

PLCC has committed to help them develop a ministry of Building Bridges for Christ through physical and spiritual help to those in the greatest need. More importantly, we are building relationships between the Romanian community and our community in Sammamish by sending Short Term Adventure Teams to encourage them in their various ministries and projects they initiate. Kenya - Community of Kodera Karabach, Kenya

Christopher Sure is a Kenyan who in 1999 came to the United States and attended school at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Issaquah, WA, now known as Trinity Lutheran College. Pine Lake Covenant Church got to know him, supported his education and began to fund the ministry which he had begun in his home community years previously. We began sending teams and as a result, built relationships with this community.
We sent a team Christmas of 1999 to investigate that potential of becoming a Partnership, and they returned with excitement, convinced that God had placed this community in our path for a good purpose! We undertook initiatives such as:
  • Taught health and hygiene principles
  • Funded the building of latrines at local elementary school
  • Developed a Certified Seed and Fertilizer Bank
  • Provided medical services through medical teams
  • Funded the construction of a 3 room clinic – St. John’s Clinic, Karabach – manned by Kenyan nurses
  • Funded the Pine Lake Academy – a private Christian elementary school – through Child Sponsorship
  • Purchased a 50’X 30’ tent for the purpose of being a Community center as well as house the Church congregation of 200 Koderans
  • Taught how to dream dreams and build goals for community development

MONTERREY, MEXICO – Foundation for Families

Our Partnership with the Foundation began in 2000 when a team from PLCC was asked to come and “bash walls down” in the building that had just been purchased in Monterrey. This is a Foundation that has been developed by our Covenant missionaries, John and Letha Kerl, for the purpose of creating a place where the Mexican families can come without fear to receive help in the aspects of their lives where there is a need. They put together classes on marriage, parenting, finances, as well as having developed a very instrumental ministry in serving the 130 families of children with Downs Syndrome. This has become a great help to the Mexican people and the government officials have promoted it through the schools.
