How is Pine Lake Covenant Governed and Held Accountable?
"... with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone." Ephesians 2:20
Pine Lake Covenant Church began its ministry in 1981. The congregation was established by our parent denomination, the Evangelical Covenant Church and its regional conference, the North Pacific Conference. The church was jointly sponsored by several local Covenant churches who sent families to join in the beginning of this church.
Covenant churches utilize a congregational form of church government. The local church has complete responsibility and authority for local church decisions. Officers are elected by the congregation from its active membership. Church officers include a Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary, and Financial Officer. They sit on the church Leadership Team along with the senior pastor, who is an ex-officio member of the Team. Other pastoral staff serve as advisory members. You can read our Constitution here.
Congregational business meetings are held at least semi-annually. The membership votes on the following:
- Any constitutional changes
- Electing Leadership Team members
- Adopting the annual church budget
- Calling pastoral staff
- Approving construction loans and land purchases
