Churches in the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination utilize a congregational form of church government. The local church has complete responsibility and authority for local church decisions. Officers are elected by the congregation from its active membership. At Pine Lake Covenant Church, officers include a Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary, and Financial Officer. They sit on the church Leadership Team along with the lead pastor, who is an ex-officio member of the Team. Other pastoral staff serve as advisory members. You can read our Constitution here.
Congregational business meetings are held at least semi-annually. The membership votes on the following:
- Any constitutional changes
- Electing Leadership Team members
- Adopting the annual church budget
- Calling pastoral staff
- Approving major financial commitments such as construction loans and land purchases
