Mary’s Love

When a baby arrives to a young couple in Bethlehem, we are moved by the faith of his young mother. We often forget that Mary viewed her child, Jesus, with both wonder and bewilderment. It was devotion toward God and love for her son that stirred her to sacrifice without certainty.

Isaiah 7:14; Luke 2:6-7; 17-19
Isaiah 7:14

14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you[a] a sign: The virgin[b] will conceive and give birth to a son, and[c] will call him Immanuel.[d]

Luke 2:6-7; 17-19

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
