Mark 9:38-50
In Mark chapters 9-10, Jesus is in teaching mode with his disciples – think “us.” Jesus’ words cut into us like a sharp knife, not to hurt us, but to show us where we are in need of healing. It’s pretty simple: when we live for ourselves, we hurt ourselves, and others. When we get re-salted in Jesus and his gospel, our hearts are renewed and we have life.
