Amen

Amen

Prayer is our lifeline, but when we say “Amen” at the close of prayer, it doesn’t mean we’re finished or the conversation is over. It also doesn’t mean we’re going to be given everything we’ve just prayed about. Join us this Sunday as we celebrate Palm Sunday and look closer at the disciples’ expectations on that day compared to our own expectations in prayer.

Matthew 6:9-14; Mark 11:1-10

Matthew 6:9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]

Mark 11:1-10

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”

They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,

“Hosanna![c]

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[d]

10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”

“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
