God wants our hearts, and this world wants to deceive our hearts. Jesus says that we cannot serve two masters. Generosity is the antidote to set us free from the poison of materialism. It is the key to putting our trust in God, to placing our hope in the Kingdom and not in things of this world. For where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21, 24
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
