“Give us this day our daily bread.” Just seven simple words, yet embedded deep within the veins of these words we discover a sacred, divine visitation to our hearts. This life-altering prayer is a lifeline; it rescues us. From what? For what? Into what? With whom? Let’s find out as we learn together this Sunday!
Matthew 6:9-13
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
Footnotes:
[a] The Greek for temptation can also mean testing.
[b] Or from evil; some late manuscripts one, / for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
