Matthew 18:15-17, 21-22, 6:14-15
Jesus is pretty clear on forgiveness. Clarity is not the problem, nor is the concept offensive to us – we kind of like it in a general sort of way. What is the problem then? As C.S. Lewis says, “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive … And then, to mention the subject at all is to be greeted with howls of anger.” There is something inside of us that just doesn’t want to do what Jesus says. If you are up to the challenge, let’s own this and find a way to move on.
